"It has been very frustrating," Dobbels said. "We are so excited to open in Oswego."
Dobbels said the first contractor they hired to complete the build out of the space in the strip at the southwest corner of Route 71 and Plainfield Road was unresponsive and was eventually fired. She and her husband Tom have hired a new contractor, who recently began work.
"They are trying to get their part done by July 4, and then we will need a few weeks to finish up, stock and train employees," Dobbels said.
Dobbels said they are still looking to hire a few more employees, and asked anyone who may be interested in either part-time or full-time hours to reach her at email@example.com
"We are looking for dependable, hard-working, quick learners who are friendly and excel at customer service," she said. "Work will include meat shop activities, customer interaction, cleaning, and more. Experience may help, but will not be the determining factor."
The Yorkville residents announced in January that they were moving their popular meat market from Morris to the former location of Genoa Pizza in the Oswego Plaza strip center.
In addition to high quality fresh beef, pork, and chicken, Sages will also sell fish, lamb, veal and exotic meats like bison, elk and venison. The shop also will carry Boar’s Head meats and cheeses and specialty items like stuffed and marinated chicken breast and pork chops, stuffed gourmet burgers and a variety of brats and sausages.
The market will also sell local gourmet grocery products like sauces, spices and honey along with Yaeger Farm's Amish products that include jams, pickles, mushrooms, beets and salsas.
