Lifelong Oswego Township resident Dan Koukol has announced he will seek election as Oswego Township Supervisor in the April 2017 municipal election.
Koukol is a graduate of Oswego High School, and is a longtime public servant. He is the owner of DK Tractor and Trailer on Route 126 and a local real estate broker. Koukol is currently a member of the Kendall County Board, but is leaving the board after the November General Election.
"I'm not ready to give up public service just yet," Koukol said. "I do this because I love helping the community I live in."
Koukol is hoping to take the office now held by longtime Oswego Township Supervisor Jim Detzler, who has said he won't seek the office again. Detzler came under fire last summer for his handling of the residency controversy of Township Highway Commissioner Gary Grosskopf, who had been living most of the year in Florida.
"I really want to restore confidence and transparency to the Township," Koukol said.
During his public service career, Koukol served as chairman of both the County Board's Economic Development and Highway Committees. His accomplishments include the completion of the Ridge Road southern extension and the construction of four lanes on Eldamain Road near the Menards Distribution Center in Plano.
His economic development accomplishments include helping to streamline the zoning process for business development in the county. Koukol said he also helped bring both Wrigley and Electrolux to the county, creating hundreds of local jobs.
