Oswego Rotary Installs 'Buddy Benches' at District 308 Schools

If your child could use a friend at school this year, perhaps they'll find themselves on a newly installed Buddy Bench.

This summer the Rotary Club of Oswego offered Buddy Benches to every elementary school in District 308. Five schools jumped at the opportunity to have these benches placed on their playgrounds, and they will be used during recess for students who are looking for a friend to play with.

Children can be a good buddy and invite those sitting on the bench to join in their games, according to the Rotary Club. Buddy Benches can be found at Churchill, Eastview, Fox Chase, Grand Park and the Wheatlands schools. Benches already have been installed at other District 308 elementary schools.

Rotary operates on four main principles, also known as the 4 Way Test. The third principle is "will it build good will and better friendships." The Buddy Benches are a way for the Rotary Club of Oswego to share with the community’s younger members the importance of building good will and friendships.
