A 33-year-old Joliet woman died Saturday of injuries she sustained in an Aug. 11 crash on Route 30, Aurora police said Monday.
Erin Buck died at 2:20 p.m. Aug. 13 at Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, two days after she was injured in a two-vehicle crash at Route 30 and Heggs Road, according to police.
Police said Buck was driving her 2011 Hyundai Elantra west on Heggs Road at around 4:50 p.m. Thursdsay when she began to “inch” out from the stop sign at Route 30 and pulled out in front of a Freightliner semi-truck that was northbound on Route 30.
Aurora police said the driver of the semi, a 58-year-old New Jersey man, swerved and hit his brakes in an attempt to avoid hitting Buck’s Hyundai, but ended up “T-boning” the vehicle on the driver’s side.
Buck was extricated from her vehicle by Aurora firefighters and transported to Rush-Copley Hospital, police said. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Police said there were no apparent signs of drug or alcohol use, and there were no other occupants in the vehicles.
The accident is being investigated by the Aurora Police Traffic Division and Illinois State Police.
