“We are honored to award this group of exceptional employees and volunteers with our 2015-16 PRIDE winner of the year awards,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Sparlin. “Through their outstanding work, these dedicated people help ensure that all District 308 students are educated to their highest potential. These 2015-16 PRIDE Recognition Program winners of the year help make District 308 a remarkable place to learn and to work.”

The winners of the year are:
  • Allied First Bank Teacher of the Year Amy Truemper, a science teacher at Bednarcik Junior High School, was named Teacher of the Month in October 2015.
  • Employee of the Year Casey O'Connell, assistant principal at Churchill Elementary School, was named Employee of the Month in February 2016.

The PRIDE Recognition Program allows the Board of Education to formally recognize the efforts of teachers, employees, and volunteers who are engaged in exceptional work across School District 308.

Each month, the program recognizes two individuals from three separate categories: teachers, employees, and volunteers. At the end of the year, four people—one teacher, one employee, and one community and student volunteer—are selected as PRIDE winners of the year.

The winners each received prizes and gifts from the PRIDE program founding sponsors Allied First Bank, Hennessy’s Riverview Ford, Huntington Learning Center, Bickford Senior Living, Papa John’s Pizza, Sam’s Club, Rush-Copley Healthplex and new sponsors Chick-fil-A, Panera Bread and L.A.
