Gun, Cash Stolen by Movers: Police

Woman injured in hit and run
Kara Elizabeth Rott, 24, of  the 100 block of Oswego Plains Drive, was arrested by Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies at 1 a.m. Aug. 21 on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, improper lane use, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving an uninsured vehicle after allegedly crashing into a tree in the 1600 block of Route 25 and then leaving the scene, according to a police report. Following the crash, witnesses identified the driver and provided deputies with a description of the vehicle, police said. Rott’s vehicle was stopped a short distance from the scene of the crash, and paramedics were called to evaluate Rott, who was taken to Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Clothes, makeup stolen
Oswego Police responded to a report of stolen cosmetics and women’s clothing from Meijer, 2700 Route 34, at 8 p.m. Aug. 20, police said.

Vandalism at pool
Oswego Police are investigating the report that someone spray painted graffiti on the sidewalk at Winrock Pool, 21 Winrock Road, according to a police report.

Phone damaged
Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an alleged criminal damage to property after a man reported that his girlfriend threw his Kyocera cell phone out a car window at 2:34 p.m. Aug. 21 at Little Rock and Miller roads, according to a police report. The phone is valued at $100.

Stolen money
Oswego Police are investigating a report of theft after the alleged victim reported that she and a male arranged a transaction for an online sale at around 2:11 p.m. Aug. 20, before the male took her money, according to a police report. 

Domestic battery
Daisy Acosta, 31, of the 0-200 block of Marnel Road in unincorporated Oswego Township was arrested at around 12:27 a.m. Aug. 21 on a charge of domestic battery after Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence situation involving Acosta and her boyfriend, police said.

Underage drinking
Rayanne K. Curry, 19, of the 1400 block of Chestnut Lane, Yorkville, was arrested by Oswego Police at 10:15 p.m. Aug. 20 at Douglas and Old Post roads on charges of unlawful consumption of alcohol and unlawful possession of alcohol, police said.

A 23-year-old woman was transported to Rush-Copley Hospital for treatment of minor injuries following a domestic battery situation at 4:34 a.m. Aug. 20 in the 0-100 block of Harbor Drive in unincorporated Oswego, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report.

Bleach poured in gas tank
The owner of a vehicle parked in the 2700 block of Light Road reported that someone poured bleach into the gas tank sometime between May 31 and June 12, according to Kendall County Sheriff’s police. The incident was reported to deputies on Aug. 20, according to a police report.

Man charged in DUI crash
Jesus M. DeLaCruz, 41, of the 1100 block of Homer Avenue, Aurora, was arrested at 7:42 p.m. Aug. 19 at Route 30 and Goodwin on charges of DUI, possession of open alcohol and improper lane use after allegedly losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a median, Oswego Police said.

Jail employees threatened
Kendall County Sheriff’s police are investigating an alleged threat made against two jail employees by an inmate at the Kendall County Jail, 11002 Cornell Lane in Yorkville, on Aug. 18, police said.

Possession of a stolen gun, assault with a deadly weapon
Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report the 1800 block of Douglas Road for a report of a possible domestic violence incidence at 1:56 a.m. Aug. 19, and arrested Christopher Garcia, 28, of the 0-100 block of Wyndham Drive, on charges of possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a weapon without a FOID card and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a police report.

Stolen shotgun
Kendall County Sheriff’s police are investigating a report of items being stolen by movers on Aug. 18 in Oswego Township, including a 12-gauge shotgun and $1,800 in cash, police said.

Stolen phone
Oswego Police responded to a report of retail theft at Walmart, 2300 Route 34, at 11:07 a.m. Aug. 18, in which a $799 cell phone was stolen, according to a police report.

Vehicle damaged
A victim reported that her vehicle was damaged while parked in the parking lot of a business in the 5400 block of Route 34 on Aug. 17, according to Kendall County Sheriff’s police.

Alleged thief batters employees
Eddie K. McSwain, 44, of the 1700 block of Molitor, Aurora, was arrested at 4:58 p.m. Aug. 16 at Walmart, 2300 Route 34, after allegedly taking items without paying for them, then battering two employees while leaving the store, according to an Oswego Police report. 

Items stolen from wallet
Kendall County Sheriff’s police are investigating a report that items were stolen from a wallet in the 1000 block of Route 30 sometime overnight on Aug. 16, according to a police report.

House burglarized
An unknown offender broke a window and entered at home in the 200 block of Chicago Road and stole $5,000 worth of items, Oswego Police said.

Trespassing to vehicle
Tywan Jones, 18, of the 200 block of Barnaby, Oswego, and a male juvenile were arrested at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 15 at Joseph Court and Old Post Road on charges of criminal trespassing to a vehicle, according to an Oswego Police report.

TVs stolen from theater
Oswego Police are investigating the theft of two LED TVs, worth an estimated $4,400, from Kendall 10 theater, 95 Fifth St., at 1:24 p.m. Aug. 15, according to a police report.

Trespassing arrest
Kenneth I. Gaston, 30, of the 0-100 block of Surrey, Montgomery, was arrested in the 300 block of Kensington on a charge of criminal trespassing to a residence, Oswego Police said.
