A 13-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital after a school bus accident Wednesday afternoon in downtown Oswego.
According to Oswego Police spokeswoman Cathy Nevara, a bus filled with students from Thompson Junior High was stopped at the railroad tracks on westbound Washington Street at Adams at about 3:20 p.m. when it was hit from behind by another vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old Oswego boy, left the scene, but later came to the Oswego Police Department to report the accident, Nevara said.
He was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Nevara said the injured student was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center where she was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
