The unexpected death of an Oswego man has neighbors in the Prescott Mill subdivision pulling together to help in a time of need.

Mike McCoy passed away suddenly late Wednesday afternoon at the family's home on Valentine Way. He leaves behind his wife, Cathy, and step-daughter Gianna, who is a student at Murphy Junior High.

Prescott Mill neighbors said Mike McCoy helped many people in the neighborhood with home improvement projects, even though he may not have even known them. Cathy McCoy said he will be remembered most off all for his helpful nature.
"He will be missed by all," she said. "(We) appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers in this difficult time."

To help the McCoy family cope with unexpected financial difficulties, family friend Allison Cobb has set up a GoFundMe page. So far, it's raised about $1,900 of its $5,000 goal.

"I pray that we can come together as the wonderful neighborhood that we are and take some of the burden off of her," Cobb wrote on the fundraising page. "If there is anything you can donate for funeral costs etc., please help."

Funeral arrangements for Mike McCoy are pending.
