More Road Work to Begin in Oswego

Sep 14, 2016 09:44AM ● Published by Steven Jack

Oswego motorists can expect more backups beginning next week as the Illinois Department of Transportation begins work along Route 34.

According to Jennifer Hughes, the village’s public works director, IDOT will begin patching sections of Route 34 between Pearces Ford Road and Route 30 on or about Sept. 19. The work is anticipated to last through the end of October.

Lane closures will occur for the duration of the work and motorists should expect delays, IDOT said.

The latest round of road work in Oswego comes as contractors wrap up the 3-year $21 million widening of Route 71. Hughes said IDOT is on pace to complete the project by Thanksgiving.
