A Montgomery man faces additional charges stemming from an Aug. 19 incident in which he allegedly fired a shot into the air and pointed a gun at a woman, Kendall County Sheriff’s police said.

Christopher Garcia, 28, was originally charged with possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a weapon without a FOID card and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

According to the Kendall County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the 0-40 block of Wyndham Drive in Boulder Hill after a woman reported that Garcia had displayed a handgun before firing it into the air, then ran at the woman while pointing the gun at her.

Deputies recovered a firearm from the home that had been reported stolen, police said. During an investigation, deputies received additional information about the Aug. 19 incident from residents in the area, according to police.

On Sept. 12, Garcia was charged with unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon and reckless discharge of a firearm. He remains in custody at the Kendall County Jail, according to police.
