The Oswegoland Optimist Club will again host its annual Pumpkin Races from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in downtown Oswego. This is the seventh year for the races, which continue to grow each year.
The Pumpkin Races are a simple concept. Just follow these steps.
- Carve a pumpkin
- Decorate it
- Insert 2 independent axles through the pumpkin
- Attach wheels
- Race your pumpkin down a hill to victory
This event is great family fun. Compete with your friends, neighbors, classmates, and business competitors. Craft a winning pumpkin and advance to the Grand Championship.
There are two divisions: Kids Division (entry fee is 3 canned goods), and the Business Division (entry fee is $25). Registration opens at 11am, and races begin at noon at the corner of Main Street and Jackson Street in downtown Oswego.
Canned goods and proceeds collected from this event will help fund the Oswegoland Optimist Clubs Christmas Project.
Select Downtown Merchants will be hosting trick or treating again which starts at 10 a.m. so be sure to wear your costumes!
In addition, Oswego Presbyterian Church will be hosting a Chili Cookoff in conjunction with the races. There are still open spots for cooks! If interested, please contact email@example.com.
