Boy Shot in Downtown Oswego Overnight

A 16-year-old Aurora boy was shot in downtown Oswego overnight. 

According to Oswego Police spokeswoman Cathy Nevara, Oswego Police were called to Tyler and Adams streets at about 12:25 a.m. Saturday for a report of a disturbance and shots fired.

Officers found the boy on the ground with a gunshot wound. 

Officers provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived, and he was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

During the investigation police learned that several individuals were in the area when a fight began. After the shots were fired, the individuals fled the scene.

Oswego detectives continue to investigate the shooting along with the Kendall County Criminal Intelligence Team. There is no clear motive, and no suspect information has been given by police.

Nevara said police believe the shooting to be an isolated incident, and that the boy may have ties to a local gang.

Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is asked to call the Oswego Police at 630-551-7300. Information may also be provided anonymously to Kendall County Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999, cash rewards are paid for tips leading to an identification and arrest.
