UPDATED MONDAY, NOV. 7
The Montgomery Police Department has identified the first victim as Nancy Buhle Weinstein, 55, and Kurt D. Jaeger, 48, as the male deceased. Their deaths are a result of a murder/suicide in which Jaeger stabbed Weinstein multiple times. Jaeger then stabbed himself, according to Montgomery Police.
Montgomery Police are investigating the stabbing death of a man and his wife in their home in the 2000 block of Kate Court.
According to Chief Daniel Meyers, police were called to the home at about 9:30 p.m. Friday for a possible death investigation. When officers arrived they found a 48-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene, Meyers said.
The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services were contacted to process the scene, and Montgomery police determined the two lived together and were married.
Meyers said the investigation is "open and active," and the circumstances surrounding the couple's death is still being determined.
He did say, however, that the public is not at risk and this appears to be an isolated incident.
"We don't suspect foul play from the outside, and the scene is secure," he said.
The names of the deceased will be released after next of kin have been notified, Meyers said.
