Oswego Fire Personnel Receive Award for Life-Saving Efforts

Nov 10, 2016 01:22PM ● Published by Steven Jack

The Oswego Fire Protection District recently  was awarded the STEMI Call of the Quarter by Rush Copley Medical Center.

The STEMI Call of the Quarter is awarded to a crew that was called to the scene of a patient having a heart attack (STEMI). The criteria for this award is performing the proper medical treatment in a timely fashion.

This means the crews have to work hand in hand with the Emergency Department as well as Cardiology to get the patient into surgery to correct the heart attack which would increase the outcome of the patient.

The award was selected from many other STEMI calls received by Rush Copley Medical Center from the surrounding departments. The Cardiac Council selected this call over the other ones for various reasons including but not limited to: Proper timely dispatch, rapid treatment and transport of the patient, great level of communication between EMS crews and Hospital, the time from patient contact to time patient was in surgery having the issue resolved.

The crew members who were on the call were from Kencom Dispatch – Mindi Jahp, from Engine Company #3 - Lt. Dave Jordan, Sean McNichols, Jimm Pechinski and from Oswego Medic #3 - Tyler Roberts and Greg Lawton.
