Oswego Teen Charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault

A 6-year-old boy was struck by a car while in a crosswalk at Long Beach and Winrock roads at 6:19 p.m. Nov. 11, suffering minor injuries to his foot, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. With the assistance of his parents, the boy refused medical treatment, police said.
Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of theft at 7:17 p.m. Nov. 11 in the 0-100 block of Leisure Lane after several electronic items were stolen from a residence, police said.
Battery at OEHS
A juvenile was arrested for battery at Oswego East High School, 1525 Harvey Road, at 10 a.m. Nov. 9, Oswego Police said.
Oswego Police took a report for a stolen vehicle at 6:20 a.m. Nov. 11 in the 200 block of Lombardy Lane, according to a police report.
An iPad was stolen from a vehicle parked at Panera Bread, 1450 Douglas Road, overnight Nov. 7, according to an Oswego Police report.
Oswego Police are investigating a report of retail theft of items totaling $224.68 from Meijer, 2700 Route 34, at 10:33 p.m. Nov. 10.
A 16-year-old boy from Aurora was arrested by Oswego Police at 7:20 p.m. Nov. 10 at Walmart, 2300 Route 34, on charges of retail theft and possession of alcohol by a minor, police said.
Two males allegedly stole two Xbox Ones, worth $299 each, from Walmart, 2300 Route 34, at 5:05 p.m. Nov. 10, Oswego Police said.
Destyne L. Totten, 21, of 104 E. Downer Place, Aurora, was arrested by Oswego Police at 1:19 p.m. Nov. 10 at Walmart, 2300 Route 34, on a warrant and a charge of retail theft, police said.
A resident said two male subjects attempted to enter her home in the 0-100 block of Fernwood Road at 2:45 p.m. Nov. 9, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s office report.
Hit and run
Oswego Police are investigating a hit and run in which someone struck the entrance gate to Well Pump #11 at the Village of Oswego Water Treatment Facility, 6701 Tuscany Trail, sometime before Nov. 7, police said. The incident caused $2,500 in damage.
Jacob Rodriguez, 18, of the 100 block of Long Beach Road, was arrested on charges of failing to stop and provide information and leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly rear-ending a vehicle stopped at the intersection of Route 30 and Briarcliff Road at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 5, according to Kendall County Sheriff’s police.
Someone used a counterfeit bill to pay for goods at BP Earth Market, 6501 Route 34, according to Oswego Police.
A 17-year-old boy from Oswego was arrested by Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies on Oct. 31 in connection with a Sept. 24 armed robbery, police said. The victim reported being robbed and battered by two acquaintances at gunpoint. Police said the 17-year-old was charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and criminal damage to property.
Aurora men charged with burglary
Two men are charged in connection with a Dec. 21, 2015 residential burglary reported in the 200 block of Fernwood Road, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. As a result of an investigation, Alfonso Nino, 21, was arrested Oct. 26 on one count of residential burglary, police said. On Nov. 7, Jose Arzate, 19, also of Aurora, turned himself was charged with residential burglary, according to police. Both men are in custody at the Kendall County Jail on $50,000 bond, police said.
