Sages Meat Market Opening This Week

After a few delays and unexpected setbacks, Oswego's new meat market will open this week. 

Sages Meat Market, 4538 Route 71, will conduct a soft opening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. Co-owner Ann Dobbels said her and her husband, Tom, are finishing training the Sages team, and asked for patience from customers who visit the market in the opening weeks.

"It will be an adjustment period as our team is having to learn through the very busy holiday season," Ann said. 

Regular store hours will be from 9-6 Monday to Friday, 9-5 Saturdays and closed Sundays. 

The Dobbels are moving their store to Oswego from Morris. They bought the store from the original owners in 2007 and closed it last winter in anticipation of the move.  

"We anticipate the volume will significantly increase from Morris as this is a highly populated area," Ann said. "This is an unknown factor so it may take time for us to figure out how much product needs to be prepared daily so we don't sell out too early. It will be a learning curve for us to know how much product we will need delivered to us weekly." 

Ann Dobbels said even though they planned to be open earlier this year, they are thankful for the reaction they have received in Oswego.

We greatly appreciate the support from the Village of Oswego and the community," she said. "We look forward to meeting all of our new customers."

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Sages is also selling fresh Ho-Ka turkeys. Orders can be placed by contacting Sages through private message on their Facebook page or by calling 630-636-6291. The deadline to order is this Thursday.
