The Village of Oswego and its Cultural Arts Commission has added a new winter festival to its roster of annual events.

The village announced recently the Oswego Light Festival will make its way to Main Street from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. The festival will feature a light show that "will illuminate and transform Downtown Oswego into a magical playground", food vendors, and interactive activities.

"We hope to have community groups participate by organizing activities like glow games, light sculptures, performance, make and take, etc.,"  said Tia Brooks-Chymka, the village of Oswego’s Tourism Bureau assistant and one of the event organizers

We are also looking for artists who work with light to participate. It is free to get involved and a great way to show off your work or community group."

Organizers are currently seeking sponsors for the event to help offset the costs and so that more interactive performers and activities can be added. If you or your community group is interested in getting involved in the 2017 Oswego Light Festival, contact Brooks-Chymka at
