UPDATED 5 P.M. SATRUDAY, JAN. 28

Naperville Police have identified the victim as Matthew Lange, 37, of Oswego. Police said they don't believe the shooting to be a random act, and they are continuing to investigate several leads.

ORIGINAL STORY

An Oswego man was shot and killed Friday night outside a Naperville middle school.

According to Naperville Police, they were called to Scullen Middle School, 1815 Mistflower, for a report of an unresponsive man inside a vehicle in the parking lot.

Officers found the vehicle with the windows broken out. The man, a 37-year-old from Oswego, was taken to Edward Hospital where he was pronounced dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The man has not yet been identified by Naperville Police.

The incident does not involve the school, police said. There were two non-school organizations that rented building space for activities. In addition, there was an after-school club that had ended its activity.

The investigation is on-going and does not appear to be a random act, police said.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department at 630 420-6666 or Naperville Crime Stoppers at 630 420-6006.
