The Kendall County Comets Special Olympics team recently competed in Snowshoeing at the area 2 Winter Games in Bartlett, IL.

Although the snowshoers had to run with no snow – they did an outstanding job! The team came away with 20 gold medals, 20 silver, 9 bronze and 1 - 4th place ribbon. The cross country ski team did not get to participate in the day’s events as you really need some snow to ski, but all of them will qualify to the State Winter Games in Galena, IL on February 7-9.

They will be joined by 13 teammates that won the gold medal in snowshoeing at the area games. Participating in the area winter games were: Alexis Miller, April Papke, Austin Miller,Curtis Evans, Heather Stoiber, Jennifer Michener, Katie McCuiston, Kristin chandler, Marcello Garcia, Melanie Heneghan, Michael Wiskur, Richard LaCoco, Ryan Walsh, Samantha Parisi, Tim Pape, Tyler McCance and Zachary Hartmann.

The Cross Country Ski team includes: Anthony Prescott, Brandon Sanmann, Bret Wagner, Cody Brown, Cole Stamm, Jeremy Kuehn, Jack Hartmann, Julie Hilger (Julie is an alternate to the World Winter Special Olympic Team in Austria in March), Kaylee Bootz, Kiley Baker, Neal Pagel, Olivia Redman and Bob Armstrong.

Great job Comets and good luck to all going to the state games in Galena!
