The Oswegoland Optimist Club is proud to announce the winners of the annual Optimist Club Essay Contest

The essay contest is sponsored by the Oswegoland Optimist Club to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. This year students were encouraged to contemplate the phrase "Chasing Optimism In The Face Of Challenges."

The first place winner of this year's contest, Megan Kill, will advance to the district level contest, where she will compete for a $2,500 scholarship. This year's second place finisher is Julia Rhoden, and third place went to Claire Berg.

The Oswegoland Optimist Club is one of the most active civic organizations in Oswego and the surrounding communities.  The club strives to make a difference in the lives of youth, through events, programs and scholarship opportunities.

To experience what the Optimist Club is all about, attend a dinner meeting, held the second and fourth Mondays of each month at The Tap House Grill in downtown Oswego.

Social hour is 6pm and dinner meeting is at 7pm.  For more information about the club, visit
