Residents of an apartment building in unincorporated Oswego are out of their homes after an early morning fire Wednesday.

According to the Oswego Fire Protection District, firefighters were called at about 5:40 a.m. to the the 100 block of Harbor Drive for a report of a fire. When they arrived firefighters found a fire in the attic of a four-unit apartment building.

The fire was extinguished after about 15 minutes, but the apartment building has been deemed uninhabitable. The American Red Cross has been called in to aid in helping the residents find shelter, the fire district said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the fire district said it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury, the fire district said.
