2017 Oswego Candidate Questionnaire: Stephen Youhanaie , Oswego Township Clerk

Mar 19, 2017 01:42PM ● Published by Steven Jack

Name: Stephen Youhanaie
Employment: Sales
Family: Single
Education: Bachelor of Science, Business, Troy State University, Fort Rucker/Dothan, Alabama
Previous elected office: Previously, I served for one term as a Naperville Township Trustee where I and the other board members worked to lower taxes 4 years in a row.

What are your specific plans to restore transparency and public trust in the township?

To ask the board to see if it is reasonable in costs and burdens, to put so much information on the Township website that there won't be a need to FOIA anything for up to 2 years old.

If any, what are your specific ideas for expanded Township services?

It is not my responsibility to consider any expanded services.  If elected, my duties are to report the information.

Would you support an effort to consolidate township services with other local taxing bodies to eventually remove this layer of government?

Unless all 9 Kendall County Townships are willing to disband at one time, I am not in favor of any consolidation moves, unless it is with one, or more other townships.  To do otherwise would create more inequities in taxing and/or servicing than we have now.  If all 9 choose to dissolve, Kendall County would take over.

If you are elected, what do you believe should be the Township’s top 3 immediate priorities?

The top three priorities would be to be more economical with taxpayer money (including the lowering of tax rates, where prudent), to be more transparent with township transactions, and to insure that all elected members of the township are well versed in their statutory job responsibilities.
