Have some spring holiday fun during the Little White School Museum’s free Easter make and take family craft activity on Saturday and Sunday, April 1-2. Visitors of all ages are invited to come to the museum anytime between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. either day to make their Easter fashion and decorating treasures. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 630-554-2999 for more information.
Visitors of all ages, from 5 to 95, are invited to stop by in any time between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. either day to participate. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required, although groups are urged to call ahead to make sure the museum has sufficient materials on hand.
Whether or not you decide to create your own Easter craft this weekend, be sure to stop by to see the museum’s new seasonal exhibit, “Easter Bonnets on Parade.” Mounted by museum volunteer Stephanie Just, the annual exhibit features colorful and stylish men’s and women’s headgear from eras past placed throughout the museum’s permanent.
To compliment the Easter hat displays, the museum’s temporary exhibit case is loaded with vintage Easter cards and other items related to the holiday selected from the museum’s collections. Featured this year is a poster advertising the latest looks in women’s hats for the 1898-1899 season then available at Maggie Shepard’s Oswego millinery shop.
Regular museum hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. While museum admission is free, donations are always gratefully accepted.
The Little White School Museum is a cooperative project of the Oswegoland Heritage Association and the Oswegoland Park District.
