"I deny all allegations of sexual harassment... At this time I have no further comment." said Wendt to KFSM Fayetteville.
Wendt resigned his position as School Superintendent for District 308 amidst alleged concern from residents about wasted spending, and apparent misuse of funds. None of those allegations have been followed up on, but many in the town were made it clear they were glad to see Wendt go.
Comments such as "now he's another district's problem" were seen on news posts shortly after his announcement to leave.
Matthew Wendt has been fully cooperating with the district's investigation and said he will "continue to make myself available to the school district to answer questions concerning the allegations."
It is alleged that Wendt made unwanted threats and sexual advances to another employee of the district. Asserting his authority over an employee it is alleged Wendt said "I'm the motherf***ing boss."
Suzanne G. Clark, attorney for the accuser states in a letter to the Fayetteville Public School District that "Dr. Wendt's egregious, offensive, and illegal actions toward her. The abuse of his power and authority in this matter is not being addressed."
The Victim has requested paid administrative leave.
