Oswego Varsity Girls Defeats Yorkville

  • Oswego Panthers Varsity snatched the lead late in the game in a 2-1 victory over Yorkville on Monday. The game was tied at one with Oswego Panthers Varsity batting in the top of the sixth when Laurie Avila singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
  • The pitching was strong on both sides. Jenna Veber struck out five, while Katie Marker sat down five.
  • In the bottom of the third inning, Yorkville tied things up at one when an error scored one run for Yorkville.
  • Veber was the winning pitcher for Oswego Panthers Varsity. She went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out five.
  • Marker took the loss for Yorkville. She lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out five.
  • Samantha Harms went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Oswego Panthers Varsity in hits.
  • Anna VanGundy led Yorkville with two hits in four at-bats.
